Album Review

The Art of Conversation

Released on the 12th of February 2007, the 13 track independent-release album is impressive to anyone who enjoys the moods of Jack Johnson, David Gray, or James Blunt, but with an added rustic edge; the gritty voice of a younger Brian Adams.

Written, and sung, by unsigned artist, Jonathan Cotton, co-produced with Richard Westall and mastered by John Dent (Loud).  The Art of Conversation is the debut album by one of the leading musicians in the south.

The album is a chocolate box selection of eclectic tunes.  The tracks vary from rock, ‘Where I Come From’ to pop, ‘On the Inside’ to intimate and passionate, with tracks such as ‘Intimacy’ and songs with real depth such as ‘One Day’’.  You can also note Jonathan’s Latino background in ‘Long Way to Heaven’.

As a writer and musician, Jonathan is both thought provoking and intelligent.  The album is a very true reflection of his ability to impress any audience with its depth in lyrical content and providing a range of melodic sounds that vary and to show a real mature and experimental musical understanding.

Already receiving critical acclaim in the south, the album is Jonathan’s finest work yet.  The expectant word on the street is that Looking ahead, there is surely much more gold to come from Jonathan Cotton."  David Griffiths, Nth Degree (editor)
